SERVICES PROVIDED:
The Mossdale Tract maintains levees for landowners within the District. The District primarily maintains the waterways and 19.01 miles of levees to provide protection from floodwaters of streams, creeks, rivers and bypasses that empty into the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, and from extreme high tides. The District also provides ferry service and supports the cost of a full-time ferry service operator.
RD No. 17 encompasses approximately 16,108 acres at the eastern edge of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The District is bounded by French Camp Slough to the north, the San Joaquin River to the west, and the Walthall Slough to the south. The District is highly urbanized, with a reported resident population of 43,500, and a number of other developed commercial and industrial properties.
